Industrial Roller Shutters
Titan Roller Shutter Doors
The Priory Shutter & Door Co. Limited have focused on supplying roller shutter doors exclusively to the door trade for over 20 years.
Roller shutter doors can be separated into two categories: –
Manual operated and Power operated
Manual Operated Roller Shutter Doors
Push Up / Pull Down
An economic roller shutter door which is ideal for smaller apertures where the door will be opened / closed a limited number of times per door, such as a doorway entrance
The most common form of locking on the type of door is a pin lock also known as a bullet lock.
Hand Chain Operation
Ideally suited to industrial applications, the curtain of the door is manually raised via a continuous haul chain, on a hand chain wheel on the end of the door or via a series of reduction gears which drives the fully sprung counter balance roller barrel assembly.
All hand chain roller shutter doors are supplied with a chain keep that hands the haul chain in position ensuring that the door cannot open.
Power Operated
Single Phase Tubular Motor Operated
The ideal roller shutter door for commercial applications where the door is required to be operated a limited number of times per day, such as shopfront entrances, windows, doorways etc.
The door can be operated via a rocker switch, a key switch or remote control hand held transmitters.
Single or 3 Phase Power Operated
The industrial roller shutter door is ideally suited for heavy duty applications that require frequent use such as loading bays, goods in/out stores, car park entrances etc.
The roller shutter door is raised via a 3 phase, 415 volt, electric motor utilising either a flange mounted chain and sprocket driven or via a direct drive outboard mounted motor, and is usually operated via a standard Up, Down and Stop push button station mounted on the control panel.
There is a wide range of activation devices available.
A manual over-ride facility on a continuous haul chain is provided as standard to enable the door to be manually raised in the event of a power failure.
A single phase 240 volt industrial motor is available for site that do not have a 3-phase supply, but the motor has a more limited usage.
Titan Roller Shutter Door Construction
Roller Barrel assembly
Dependant on the type and size of the door, the roller barrel assembly will be either sprung or un-sprung and manufactured from varying diameter to suit the door with deflection kept to a minimum.
Endplates
Door specific laser cut endplates of varying sizes and thicknesses to suit the type and size of the door without the “Pepperpot” endplates of other suppliers. Usually finished in Grey primer but can be supplied either electro-zinc plated or powder coated to suit the rest of the door
Guide Channels
Fitter friendly, pre-drilled continuous galvanised mild steel channel sections of varying depths, dependant on size and specification of the door, are mounted on galvanised steel angles to captivate the roller shutter door curtain during operation.
This is known as a “flag-angle” arrangement which ensures that the doors are fitted square.
Curtain
50 mm flat or 3” concave interlocking laths held together by either nylon, pressed steel or cast steel endlocks with the addition of wind endlocks for doors subject to wind pressures or above a pre-determined size.
Bottom Rail
Fitted to the bottom of the curtains to seal the door to the floor is a
galvanised steel bottom rail in either a “T” or an “L” shape section. This can also have a safety edge or a bottom rubber door seal fitted to it.
Safety Brake Mechanism / Anti-fall back device
All of our roller shutter doors, apart from push up pull down operated, are supplied with an anti-fall back safety brake mechanism, either separate or enclosed within the motor to ensure that the door cannot fall more than 300 mm or out of balance for less than 200 newtons to comply with the latest regulations.
Motors
The following types of motors can be supplied with all of our roller shutter doors: –
- Single phase tube motors
- Single phase in-board mounted industrial motors
- Single phase out-board mounted direct drive motors
- 3 phase flange mounted chain and sprocket driven in-board and out-board motors
- 3 phase out-board mounted direct drive motors
Motors are available from all 3 of the largest motor manufacturers in the world, Ellard, Link Controls and GfA – Please state your preference at time of enquiry.
Finishes
All of our roller shutter doors can be supplied in a galvanised finish or can be part or fully powder coated to almost any standard RAL or BS number subject to availability.
A popular option is to have one face of the curtain, usually the external face, finished in Plastisol HPS200 from a wide range of colours
